Good Morning, Coulee

If you are looking for a reason to get outside with neighbors this weekend, The Nature Place is ready to welcome you and your family.

Nature's Living Room is a free spring community event hosted by The Nature Place on Saturday, May 2 from 12–2 p.m. at Myrick Park in La Crosse. This family-friendly gathering will have something for everyone.

Expect hands-on learning stations, crafts, native garden tours, a seasonal plant sale, and casual meetups with local organizations focused on wellness, careers, finances, and community connection. At 1 p.m., Bee Bops and Bundles hosts a children's dance party.

A highlight of the event will be the free outdoor spring family photography sessions by Angie Capwell Photography, Celia Rose Photography, and Fokus Photo, which will be available with a suggested donation. Advanced signups and walk-ins are accepted.

The Nature Place has recently experienced a significant decrease in funding following the sudden termination of funds that were previously available through AmeriCorps, but they have continued to host free events, serve the community, and provide opportunities for neighbors to connect.

"Our mission has only become more urgent — we need third spaces for people where all are welcome to gather, learn, and feel supported."

Rebecca Swartz, Director of The Nature Place

All donations from Nature’s Living Room will directly support The Nature Place’s free community programs, environmental education, and land stewardship initiatives.
