From the Murphy Digital Collection: Black and white image featuring two children sitting on a rock outcropping. Grandad Bluff is at the heart of Hixon Forest, which was bought in 1851 by Judge George Gale. The bluff and the surrounding area was sold again and used for large scale quarrying. The citizens of La Crosse were extremely upset about the bluff being used for quarrying, that Ellen Hixon bought the bluff and surrounding landscape in 1909 to prevent it from further destruction. In 1912, Grandad Bluff was donated to the city of La Crosse as a park. Hixon Forest currently is roughly 800 acres and 10 miles of trails.

Hey friends! Today, I want to shine a spotlight on something truly special: La Crosse American Jiu Jitsu! If you’re local to the La Crosse area, or just someone who loves to support businesses that make a real difference in their community, this small but mighty martial arts academy deserves your attention. Why? Because it’s so much more than just a place to learn self-defense—it’s a welcoming, empowering, and inclusive space that’s changing lives, one class at a time.

1. A Family-Oriented Martial Arts Academy At its core, La Crosse American Jiu Jitsu feels like home. This isn’t your typical martial arts school with a rigid, impersonal atmosphere. It’s a space where families come together, grow together, and learn together. It’s not uncommon to see parents and kids training side by side, cheering each other on, and celebrating each other’s progress.

2. Empowering Kids Against Bullying and Building Confidence We all know how tough childhood and adolescence can be, especially when it comes to facing challenges like bullying. That’s why La Crosse American Jiu Jitsu is on a mission to empower kids to stand tall, believe in themselves, and navigate life with courage and resilience. Through their carefully designed programs, kids don’t just learn martial arts techniques; they learn self-respect, discipline, and the importance of kindness.

3. Inclusive Classes for Everyone If you’ve ever felt intimidated by the thought of joining a martial arts class, La Crosse American Jiu Jitsu is here to change that. Their classes are designed to be inclusive and welcoming for everyone—women, men, children, seniors, and people of all fitness levels. Whether you’re looking to get active, learn self-defense, or just try something new, there’s a space for you on the mat.

In a world where we’re often so disconnected, places like La Crosse American Jiu Jitsu remind us of the power of community, kindness, and personal growth. They’re not just teaching martial arts—they’re helping build stronger, more confident individuals and families. Whether you want to empower your kids, try something new for yourself, or just support a business that’s making a positive impact, this academy is worth checking out.
