Good Morning, Coulee
Last Thursday at 6pm, 17 local filmmaking teams found out what their short movie had to be about. By Sunday, they had it done.
The third annual La Crosse 48 Hour Film Festival lands at the Rivoli Theatre this Saturday, May 2. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and the screening starts at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are free, though donations are encouraged. Reservations are strongly recommended. This event has sold out both years prior and is growing in popularity.
At the start of the challenge, the teams were given an item and a physical action to include in the film. Then, they were given 48 hours to write, shoot, edit, and submit their film to the contest. Their efforts will be on display Saturday night.
The submissions will be viewed and scored by industry professionals from around the country.
Three top prizes in two categories will be awarded based on their criteria. However, the audience also has a role to play. A live vote will be held for the Audience Choice Award winner.
The La Crosse Film Academy is a nonprofit organization founded in 2024 to grow a filmmaking community in the La Crosse area. At only two years old, they’re already selling out the Rivoli and making our community a more vibrant place to live.
