🎥 Larry & Joe @ Historic Temple Theatre of Viroqua // 8pm

📍 116 S Main St, Viroqua

Larry & Joe were destined to make music together. Larry Bellorín hails from Monagas, Venezuela and is a legend of Llanera music. Joe Troop is from North Carolina and is a GRAMMY-nominated bluegrass and oldtime musician. Larry, an asylum seeker due to social unrest, poverty, and violence in his home country, found work in North Carolina. Joe, after a decade in South America, was stranded back in his stomping grounds during the pandemic. Larry worked construction to make ends meet. Joe's acclaimed "latingrass" band Che Apalache was forced into hiatus, and he shifted into action working with asylum seeking migrants. Then Larry met Joe.

Currently based in the Triangle of North Carolina, both men are versatile multi-instrumentalists and singer-songwriters on a mission to show that music has no borders. As a duo they perform a fusion of Venezuelan and Appalachian folk music on harp, banjo, cuatro, fiddle, maracas, guitar, upright bass, and whatever else they decide to throw in the van. The program they offer features a distinct blend of their musical inheritances and traditions as well as storytelling about the ways that music and social movements coalesce.

🐱 Friends….Meet Gigi (presented by LaLa)

LaLa is our presenter for today. Thank you LaLa!

Gigi

If you welcome GiGi into your life, get ready for BIG stretches, plentiful biscuit making, and lots of quality time together! GiGi is a young adult cat with an endearing personality that instantly draws you in.

GiGi recently arrived at the shelter after her stay with Winona Animal Control. She’s not been here for very long but has already managed to capture the hearts of everyone she meets, which is a testament to her affectionate nature. GiGi adores being around people, frequently rolling on the floor happily to express her contentment and leaning in for pets. She gets so excited when it’s attention time that she’ll let out many chirps of excitement.

Once she’s had her fill of attention (which takes a good while), GiGi shows interest in some playtime too. She hasn’t been introduced to other shelter cats yet, but it seems like she could be a good companion for another adult cat who’s equally snuggly and playful.

Besides immediately noticing GiGi’s complete sweetness, you’ll also note one of her eyes is permanently squinting. GiGi’s been checked by several vets to rule out infection, injury, or underlying medical causes, and all her report cards have been clear. Simply put, there’s no medical explanation for why - it just might be the way she is, which makes GiGi even more unique.
